Michael W. McCormick is Chief Operating & Genealogical Officer at HEREDIUM Probate Research LLC, a missing heirs research firm processing well over one hundred cases each year. He is also on the Remote Adjunct Faculty for BYU-Idaho’s associate’s degree in Family History Research. Michael graduated from Brigham Young University—Idaho, where he earned a bachelor of science in history, and began teaching genealogy among his peers. He is now a genealogy masters candidate with the University of Strathclyde. Michael has interned with FamilySearch, and also has previously taken genealogy clients. Michael has been awarded the Accredited Genealogist (AG®) credential, with the International Commission for Accredited Genealogists. He is currently serving as the commission’s Study Group Coordinator and Proctor Coordinator. Michael also holds the Qualified Genealogist (QG) credential from the Register of Qualified Genealogists. He has served as a Family History and Indexing Director in a Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one of several volunteer genealogy roles that he has held (or continues to hold) within his community. Michael is “on the clock” with the Board for Certification of Genealogists with a goal of late 2017. He holds memberships in approximately twenty genealogical, historical, professional, and lineage societies. Michael continues to attend several genealogy conferences and institutes.
