About: Cinda Baxter, MSc, CG, AG, QG
Determined to learn where the first Baxter came from, I began chasing those twitchy little leaves, like everybody else. Before long, visits to the Scottish Borders and Lowlands (then later, throughout the U.S. and England) were the norm, rooting through archives, libraries, graveyards, local history societies, courthouses, and any other place that might have even a tiny scrap of our family story. My adoration for research, complexity, and discovery found a new purpose…and it was genealogical research. Post-nomials: • MSc in Genealogical, Palaeographic, and Heraldic Studies (University of Strathclyde) • CG (Certified Genealogist, through the Board for Certification of Genealogists, Washington, D.C.) • AG (Accredited Genealogist, through the International Commission for the Accreditation of Professional Genealogists, Salt Lake City, Utah), specializing in Scotland research. In addition to client work, I served as the Assistant Director of the Genealogical Institute on Federal Records (Gen-Fed), held at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. for one week each summer. My two-year term as a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) Board of Directors concludes in December 2023.
