New Member – Nikki Paine

After achieving an MSc from Strathclyde in 2016, Nikki currently works as a part time genealogist primarily researching family histories and putting them in context with the social history of the time.

These might be name studies or building studies where the families that have lived there over time are researched. Based in Ashford in Kent, she enjoys teaching and has a BA(Hons) in Post Compulsory Education. This provides the skills for mentoring, tutoring and planning courses. She also writes the occasional blog.

Nikki was adopted as a baby and in adulthood became interested in knowing the family history of her birth parents. This quickly became addictive and a love of genealogical research was born. She has traced her living relatives, and have also found that her paternal ancestors were hard working coal miners for generations and one of them lived at the illustrious address of No. 6 Bog Row! Although no fortunes are hidden in my family tree she was proud to find them all hard working, striving for a better life for their own children, something which she has done for my own two sons.
