New RQG Member- Alison Spring
Alison has a MLitt in Family & Local History from the University of Dundee. Her dissertation dealt with Glasgow poor law records, one of her specialist areas of research.
Based just outside Glasgow, in the west of Scotland, Alison uses the records in its City Archives, as well as the National Archives and Library in Edinburgh.
She specialises in Scottish research (for obvious reasons!) and began tracing her family tree over 40 years ago. The past 20ish years she has been involved in professional work for authors, family historians, the media, and charities. Alison has also taught college and university classes in family history.
Coming up, she is speaking at RootsTech London on breaking down brick walls in Scottish research, and hopes to develop her thesis on the Glasgow poor law records into a journal article or paper.
