New RQG member – Carolyn Alderson

Carolyn has recently completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies at the University of Strathclyde and also has an MSt in History from the University of Cambridge. In addition, she is an Associate of AGRA.

Based in Cambridge UK, Carolyn’s academic research projects have focussed on internal migration in England in the 19th Century. Many professional research briefs undertaken have revolved around Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Middlesex, and she particularly enjoys working with manorial records, Wills and personal correspondence and how these can help understand family relationships.

Since retiring from a role supporting the UK higher education and research communities last April, Carolyn has become a professional genealogist and hopes to take on more research commissions in the near future. She also plans on writing an article based on her PG Diploma project.
