New RQG member – Dawn Jennifer
Dawn is based in Adelaide, South Australia and has achieved a PgDip in Genealogy, Palaeography and Heraldic Studies at the University of Strathclyde.
We asked Dawn about any special areas of interest: “My husband’s grandfather was born in the Destitute Asylum in Adelaide, South Australia in 1892, which has sparked my interest in the asylum and, in particular, the Lying-in Department built c. 1878, and destitution / migration in the early years of the colony more generally.”
Having just started Year 3 of the MSc at the University of Strathclyde, Dawn’s immediate plans involve more studying. Once her Masters is completed, she is hoping to pursue her research interest in the women of the Lying-in Department further and eventually write a book and develop an online searchable resource for family historians.
