I started researching my own French and English family history when I was at junior school in the 1970s.

Forty-five years later, I am now a retired detective sergeant and I have continued my love of genealogy, in particular, French research. I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Family and Local History from the University of Dundee and I have completed the Advanced Family History Course ‘Completing Your Ancestral Journey’ with the Institute of Heraldic & Genealogical Studies (IHGS). I am also a Trustee of the Guild of One-Name Studies as well as their journal editor.
