Description
Pollyanna is a graduate of the London School of Economics, where she studied Economic History. Her academic background in social history has been further developed through professional qualifications with the Institute of Heraldry and Genealogical Studies, including the Higher Certificate in Genealogy and the Diploma in Genealogy. Following her qualification, she also tutored for the Institute. She is a member of Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives and listed on the Register of Qualified Genealogists.
With a particular interest in social history, Pollyanna uses a wide range of archival and library sources to build a detailed picture of individuals, families, and communities. By placing these findings within their wider political and economic context, her research aims to bring a more personal and meaningful perspective to the lives of past generations. Her work follows an evidence-based methodology, drawing on primary sources wherever possible and critically evaluating all material to ensure conclusions are robust and fully supported.
Projects may focus on a specific individual, an ancestral line, or the history of a property, while some clients seek assistance in resolving particular research challenges or “brick walls.” All work is presented in a fully referenced research report and, where appropriate, accompanied by a clearly structured pedigree.
Pollyanna undertakes research across England and, where necessary, collaborates with trusted researchers in other regions. Based in Somerset, she works regularly at local archives including those in Bath, Bristol, Somerset, Devon, Wiltshire, and Gloucestershire, as well as in London repositories such as The National Archives, British Library, Guildhall Library, Westminster Archives Centre, and the London Archives.
