Browne, Lucy
Genealogist
Description
Westcountry Research
I specialise in researching families with roots and connections in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. I tackle family history projects of all sizes, helping unconfident researchers, remote professionals needing a pair of hands on the ground, and others wanting an unusual birthday present or a family mystery solved.
House and Site History
For both archaeologists and householders interested in their properties, I provide documentary evidence for historic building assessments. I research ownership, occupation and usage histories. I work closely with a historic building archaeologist to find what secrets of a building’s history is hidden in its fabric and construction.
Archives
I regularly visit the county archives for Devon in Exeter, Somerset at Norton Fitzwarren and Kresen Kernow in Redruth. I also make periodical visits to the National Archives at Kew, and the British Library in London to support Westcountry research in national collections.
Family History Tuition and Talks
I am an online Tutor with the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies (IHGS). I can offer one-to-one guidance via video-link and talks on aspects of family history and research to groups.
