My name is Claire Gene Esker and I graduated with an MSc with merit from the University of Strathclyde’s program in Genealogic, Palaeographic, and Heraldic Studies Program.  As a family historian, I specialize in Polish American, Polish, Illinois, and Chicago research, especially those areas that focus on the lives of women.  I especially enjoy infusing my work with social history to fully contextualize a genealogical discovery.  I am a member of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Illinois (JGSI) and have been published in their newsletter, “Morasha,” as well as the Polish Genealogical Society of America (PGSA), where I have been published in their journal Rodzinny. I also work with them as a volunteer researcher.

Additionally, I am a member of the Historical Society of the Episcopal Church (HSEC), the Episcopal Women’s History Project (EWHP), and the National Episcopal Historians and Archivists (NEHA).  My non-research interests include photography, world religion, and foreign language.

Although I specialize in Polish genealogy, I believe that all families deserve to know and understand their history and heritage.  Therefore, I enjoy projects that stretch my skills and challenge my understanding of cultures, languages, and history.  If you have such a project in mind, please feel free to contact me to discuss the possibilities for your project.
