Michael W. McCormick is an independent contractor for individual clients as well as other research firms. He is hired for his special expertise, as well as his broad ability to do reliably thorough look-ups in all Roman alphabet languages at the Salt Lake City, Utah Family History Library.
Michael has a track record as a forensic genealogist locating United States next-of-kin when almost no information is known, determining the town of origin for German immigrants and tracing their lines into the 1600s, and solving or making significant progress on many kinds of difficult United States research cases. By applying his broad knowledge, penchant for learning, and dedication to his clients he has had successful research experiences on a broad range of specialties including: Mexican genealogy, Jewish research, early members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, African American research, and numerous others.
Recently Michael served six years as an executive and full-time forensic genealogist for a firm processing well over one hundred cases each year. Michael earned a master’s degree in genealogy from the University of Strathclyde, interned with the largest genealogy non-profit (FamilySearch), and is on the Remote Adjunct Faculty for BYU-Idaho’s associate’s degree in Family History Research. Michael has been awarded the Accredited Genealogist (AG) credential, with the International Commission for Accredited Genealogists.
