House Historian & Genealogist
I have been undertaking genealogical research for 10 years, researching my own family tree in Somerset, Surrey, Sussex and Dorset. I hold an M.Litt in Family and Local History from Dundee, graduating in 2018. Whilst studying for my masters, I set up Behind These Doors, my own research business. I offer bespoke House History and genealogical research in London, Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex and I am currently writing a book on Montpelier Row in Twickenham. A Georgian terrace built in 1720, furthering the research I did for my dissertation.
I love exploring houses and I am fascinated by the stories that houses and our homes have to tell. They are much more than bricks and mortar and I enjoy exploring the history and development of an area as well as exploring the lives of all those who have lived in a house. I am deeply passionate about history and bringing stories of the past to life.
As well as undertaking research, I also write and direct historical plays for theatre and young people, and recent plays have included Sing Little Cuckoo based on the life of Nelly Bly and Hope about a group of children in WW2.
I specialise in English records, but have also worked with Welsh, Scottish and Irish records as well as overseas records.
