I started researching my own French and English family history when I was at junior school in the 1970s.

I am a retired detective sergeant and I have continued my love of genealogy, in particular, French research. I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Family and Local History from the University of Dundee and I have completed the Advanced Family History Course ‘Completing Your Ancestral Journey’ with the Institute of Heraldic & Genealogical Studies (IHGS). For the past 10 years I have been the editor for the Guild of One-Name Studies journal.
