Description

I qualified with an M.Sc. in Genealogical Studies at the University of Strathclyde in 2015 and established ‘Pinpoint Ancestry’, my own genealogical research business, the same year. I work in collaboration with Dr John Burt, who is also a member of the Register of Qualified Genealogists and specialises in Scottish and military research.

My aim is to ‘pinpoint’ your family accurately within their local setting. I am an experienced researcher and have undertaken research commissions on families in England, Wales and Scotland. I was on the ‘Ask The Experts’ panel at Who Do You Think You Are LIVE in 2017 and The Genealogy Show in 2019.

My main genealogical focus is the lives of individuals incarcerated in asylums and I have co-written two books on the history of insanity in nineteenth century Britain. I lectured on this topic at Who Do You Think You Are LIVE in 2017, the Secret Lives Conference in 2018 and at the National Records of Scotland in 2019.

In addition to the Register of Qualified Genealogists, I am also an associate member of the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (AGRA).
