Description

My name is Martin Gorrie. I have over 30 years of experience researching family trees, both as a hobby and professionally. I obtained an MA degree from the nearby University of St. Andrews in 2014, which included modules in Scottish Medieval History, Scottish Modern History, European Medieval History, European Modern History, and Art History. Subjects studied included Castles, Vikings, Lordship, Highlands of Scotland, Clearances, Jacobites and the First and Second World Wars.

In June 2025, I received a Master of Letters (MLitt) degree from the University of Dundee in Family and Local History. The modules I studied include Military Archives, House History, Palaeography, Heraldry, Latin, and Skills and Sources for Family History, covering both Scotland and England.

I am a full member of the Register of Qualified Genealogists and the only qualified genealogist living in the East Neuk of Fife. I can visit archive centres, libraries, and museums in Fife, Edinburgh, and Dundee to assist with your research, if required. I can also take digital photographs of locations throughout Fife, including buildings, gravestones and memorials.
