Description

My interest in genealogy began many years ago through researching my own family history. With roots in naval service and mill ownership, this early work sparked a lasting fascination with how individual lives, families, and places are recorded in historical sources, and how those records can be brought together to tell a coherent story.

To build on this experience, I undertook formal academic study and was awarded an MSc in Genealogical, Palaeographic, and Heraldic Studies from the University of Strathclyde. This Course strengthened my ability to work directly with original documents, interpret historic handwriting, and place genealogical and heraldic evidence within its proper historical context.

My main research interests include family and individual history, house histories, pedigree research, heraldic research and palaeography. I am particularly drawn to projects that connect people with place and lineage, allowing a fuller understanding of how families developed over time.

Based in Worcestershire, I am well placed to carry out in-person archival research in Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, and Warwickshire, and can travel further afield when necessary. Working directly with local archives and record offices enables me to consult original material and provide research that is thorough, carefully evidenced, and clearly presented.

Through AncestraVick, I hope to use the knowledge and experience I have gained to help others uncover the stories, connections, and histories within their own families.
