Genealogist @ Four Oaks Genealogy
I have over twenty years genealogical and family history experience, including studying with the IHGS, gaining their Higher Certificate in Genealogy in 2016 and their Diploma in Genealogy in 2018.
With 40 years public service for Birmingham Libraries under my belt, and time spent writing and presenting adult education classes, this has given me valuable, transferable skills for the world of genealogical studies!
Located in the West Midlands UK, I am ideally situated to visit a wide area to undertake research, serving the historic counties of Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire and beyond.
I have practical knowledge of numerous private and public; local, national and international archives. Not only does my experience include researching individual and family history, it also extends to writing articles, presenting talks and running genealogy themed workshops.
Since qualifying, I teach online genealogy courses for Pharos Teaching and Tutoring Ltd and support Pharos students as an Advanced Programme Mentor.
In March 2020 I became editor of The Midland Ancestor, the journal of the BMSGH family history society, and my role serves an enthusiastic local family history community.
