Nicola Johnson
Genealogist, Family History Researcher, Writer, Speaker, Broadcaster
Description
I am a professional genealogist and writer based in Hampshire, specialising in Titanic families, convict transportation, and wider maritime research including Merchant Navy and port communities. Alongside these areas, I have expertise in DNA test analysis to identify unknown relatives. I also undertake general English family history research across Hampshire, Dorset, Southampton City Archives, and The National Archives in London.
Alongside genealogical research, I bring more than 15 years’ experience in factual broadcasting as a Senior Broadcast Journalist with the BBC and Associated Press. I am highly experienced in pre-recorded production, with additional experience at live national and international events. I am media trained and confident in appearing as an expert contributor.
I have been commissioned as a freelance writer of articles and features for leading family history magazines, and I offer engaging genealogy talks and webinars for family history societies and conferences on the topics of Titanic, the Merchant Navy, convict transportation, and wider British genealogy. I also write and publish bespoke heirloom-style books detailing clients’ own family histories.
As well as being a member of the RQG, I am also an AGRA Associate.
