Description
I am a qualified genealogist ready to help you trace your family. My lifelong interest in family history began in the early 1980s, when my grandad told me about his Romany gypsy history. He bought the past alive with his stories about life on the road and Romany traditions. From then on, I was hooked, and have researched my own family ever since.
In 2014 I decided to take my interest further and become a qualified genealogist. I then achieved the Higher Certificate in Genealogy and the Diploma in Genealogy with the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies (IHGS).
I am a Graduate Member of the IHGS, and I am a member and volunteer with the Society of Genealogists, the Romany and Traveller Family History Society, and Midland Ancestors.
There are various ways I can help you trace your ancestors: if you are looking for a report that outlines the members of your family, then a family tree package may suit your needs. If you already have a family tree and would like specific research undertaken, perhaps to locate a school record, a court case or occupational records, then I can tailor the research to suit your needs.
I have an interest in researching itinerant families such as gypsies and travellers. Researching itinerant families can be time-consuming and records, where they exist, are difficult to locate. I can help.
I also have an interest in heraldry. If you need some help or advice on anything related to heraldry, or would like to know more about a specific coat of arms, please get in touch.
If you have already written your family history and need editorial help, I offer copy-editing, proofreading and indexing services. I am qualified in all three disciplines and I work to high standards. I will help you to produce a high-quality document, whether it’s a book, article, dissertation or report.
I am based in the Midlands and can easily travel to record offices in the West Midlands, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire. I can travel to the National Archives, London Archives, the Guildhall Library and any London-based archives to carry out research and look-ups.
Researching family history has always been my passion. I love nothing more than searching for an elusive record, and the feeling of achievement when I find something of relevance. We can learn so much about ourselves by looking into the lives of our ancestors, and bringing their stories to life.
