Janice is a freelance Genealogist and Researcher and operates under the business name of Roslin Roots. Her areas of particular interest are the Lothians and Borders and the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.
She provides genealogy tutoring and researches family and local history using online and archive resources. She specialises in providing local and historical context to research results. She is based in Roslin, near Edinburgh, which gives easy access to archives in Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Scottish Borders, including the National Records of Scotland and the National Library of Scotland.
Janice’s current personal research project is looking at migration from the Scottish Highlands and Islands to the Lowlands in Scotland.
Janice graduated from the University of Dundee with a MLitt in Family and Local History and has a BA in History from the Open University.
