New Student Member – Gareth Bassett

Based in Llanelli, Camarthenshire, Gareth is currently studying the correspondence course with the IHGS and from April 2019 he will commence study towards a Masters degree in Genealogical, Paleographic and Heraldic Studies with the University of Strathclyde, having already undertaken a postgraduate module with them.

He has a particular interest in military genealogy/ancestry/research and also specialises in Welsh genealogy/records research. Gareth is also able to research and provide communication through the medium of Welsh.

His intention is to provide a service researching military records and researching records in Welsh archives and libraries. He also wishes to write books and articles along with providing a proofreading service specialising in genealogy and related subjects (He’s an accredited proofreader and intermediate member of the SfEP – Society for Editors and Proofreaders).

Currently, Gareth is working on a number of writing projects including a book about his local village/neighbouring village during the Great War.
