New RQG Member – Richard Forty

Aberdeen based Richard has a Postgraduate Diploma in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies from the University of Strathclyde (2020), having previously done the Certificate in 2018.

He also has a PhD in History from the University of Aberdeen (via part-time study) (2014). His thesis was on the 2nd Earl of Fife, an 18thcentury Scottish nobleman

Richard has an interest in Scottish family history generally but particularly records of landed estates, particularly the 18th and 19th centuries, business and financial records, the social and economic context of family history and using genealogy to tackle historical problems.
