  1. Dear Toni

I have a close friend who had intended to deposit a substantial archive of original documents, printed texts and manuscript research to the Northamptonshire Archives. Several items included have already been allocated a high value having been purchased at auction and by private sale. Having received this information he now intends to deposit his collection in a Local Studies Collection (Museum). He is a strong advocate of open access to archives.

I personally use the archive on day visits from Worcester. The facilities there are excellent and I have for some time advocated the building as the perfect Archive format. Sadly it will be lost in future if this proposal goes through and all genealogists will seek alternative ways of consulting Northamptonshire Archives. Perhaps we will all have to use record agents insisting the worth is carried out on Tuesday or Thursday am.
